 Boyd Street is tucked just behind the seafront and only a minute’s walk from the promenade. It sits within one of the town’s oldest settled neighbourhoods, where narrow Victorian streets, traditional stone buildings, and long‑standing community landmarks give the area its character.  

 Largs has excellent transport links — direct trains to Glasgow, regular buses across Ayrshire, and a busy ferry terminal connecting to Cumbrae — the town is naturally positioned as a gateway to the Clyde Coast and the islands with ferries to Campbelltown, and Arran via Ardrossan, and Bute via Wemyss Bay all easily accessible. 

By offering affordable, sustainable accommodation in the town centre, the proposed business will help support local businesses year‑round: cafés, pubs, shops, activity providers, by offering a low cost alternative to camping to the steady flow of walkers, cyclists, and budget travellers who visit. 

  Backpacker Bunkhouse's Largs site will offer simple, comfortable, budget‑friendly accommodation designed for walkers, cyclists, backpackers, and anyone travelling light. Inside, guests will find a mix of private rooms and screened communal bunks with secure storage, alongside shared shower rooms and toilets. Cosy, practical, and welcoming — a relaxed space where you will be able to rest your head after a day of exploring. 

 Our communal living area will include a log burner, a small kitchen for preparing meals, and plenty of space to unwind, chat, or plan your next adventure both inside and out. We will operate on‑site bike hire and a laundry service, and will also provide secure bike storage, fast Wi‑Fi, charging points, and all the essentials you will need for a comfortable stay in a warm, friendly base in the heart of Largs. 

Travel and community go hand in hand, and we aim to support charities, projects, and organisations that make a real difference. We also donate accommodation, volunteer hours, and practical support to groups who need a safe, welcoming space. To the rear of Boyd St sits this quirky disused outbuilding (left), which has lived many lives, including a tradespersons offices, general storeroom, and a photographic studio.

In recent years, the plot and building has fallen into disrepair and victim to squatters and vandals. It looks rough, but we think it just needs polishing to be a hidden gem.
